This year, Blaser Mills will participate in Action for Brain Injury Week 2016 (9-15 May). The week includes Hats for Headway, where we will be wearing our most novel and wacky hats, whilst raising money and awareness for Headway charity.
Headway is a UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury. Through its network of more than 125 groups and branches across the UK, it provides support, services and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields.
The charity’s focus this year will be on sports related injuries and in particular, concussion. A lot has been achieved in the past few years to improve concussion protocols, especially at elite-level sport. However, Headway will be launching a new campaign this year focused on grassroots and junior sport to make everyone concussion aware.
Sports-related injuries are increasingly gaining attention as researchers investigate long-term consequences of multiple concussion. Those involved in contact sport, such as American football, rugby and football have a higher risk of repeated minor head injuries, and expose themselves to the risk of a second injury whilst recovering from the first. Headway is encouraging amateur sports clubs, schools and colleges to sign up to the campaign and pledge to take an If in doubt, sit it out! approach.
Blaser Mills is proud to be a Member of Headway, the Brain Injury Association, as well as being a participating member of the Headway Head Injury Solicitors’ Directory. Each of the solicitors featured in the Directory have agreed to work to the Headway Personal Injury Lawyers code of conduct, ensuring a high level of service.
