A graduate of Oxford Brookes University, Darren is a partner in the firm’s Criminal Defence department. He trained with Blaser Mills and remained with the firm following admission as a solicitor before being rapidly promoted to partner in 2000.
Since qualification Darren has developed his expertise in most areas of the criminal law.
A fervent believer in the importance of advocacy skills, Darren is a tenacious courtroom performer to whom clients are attracted by his unstinting commitment to their cases. The quality of his work is frequently remarked upon by others and he has a regular stream of referred work as a result.
In recent times Darren has achieved notable successes in his defence of internet crime offences including those relating to the production, making and distribution of indecent images of children. He also has a sound track record in the defence of motoring offences across the spectrum and has a very incisive way of identifying ways in which defences can be advanced to prevent possible disqualification.
A well rounded practitioner with an appropriate sense of humour, Darren can be relied upon to give meticulous attention to every case he handles.
Notable cases:
R v S – Sexual assaults on school pupils by schoolmaster.
R v B – Defending serious case of serial rape of child victims.
R v K – Acted for motor cyclist in case involving what was then the highest ever recorded speeding offence in the UK.
