Joanne Smith circleJOANNE SMITH

Joanne is a solicitor in the Private Client department based at the Chesham office. She qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and previously worked at the Woodbridge Partnership in Uxbridge and she is an Associate Member of Solicitors for the Elderly.

She specialises in all aspect of Private Client work, specifically:

Drafting Wills: Joanne understands the importance of ascertaining the individual needs of each client in order to ensure the Will is tailor made to fit the client. Most people find making a Will quite a daunting task; Joanne seeks to make it as simple as possible for clients who frequently comment on their appreciation of the firms 'plain English' definitions to Will clauses.

Probate: obtaining valuations of assets, debts, preparing Inland Revenue forms and court documents to apply for the Grant of Probate, through to administering the estate and distributing to beneficiaries. Joanne ensures that clients are informed of progress on a regular basis, particularly as most will have recently lost a loved one and sometimes find the complexities of the paperwork are just too much. Joanne can be relied upon to act for clients in an efficient and professional manner relieving much of the burden of what appears to be endless paperwork.

Court of Protection: mainly drawing up and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney, Receivership and Statutory Wills.

Joanne appreciates that this area of law can be very sensitive and that it is essential for the solicitor to be approachable and she is always willing to make visits to clients homes, to hospitals and hospices.

The majority of Joannes clients are privately paying individuals or, occasionally, charities.

In her spare time, Joanne enjoys shopping.
