STEPHEN BENETT
Stephen is the Managing Partner of Blaser Mills and a member of our very busy crime department.
Having joined the Firm in 1977 as a trainee solicitor he was asked to become a partner in 1981. He has been involved in the management of the firm since 1983 and is currently sole Managing Partner with overall responsibility for the development of the firm.
Over the years Stephen has practised virtually all areas of law, both contentious and non contentious, but for some time now his specialism has been within criminal law.
Stephen is based at our High Wycombe office and is known and respected both locally and further afield for the quality of the representation that he provides both at the Police Station and in Court.
He acts across the entire spectrum of criminal matters; achieving a consistently good success rate in matters ranging from minor driving offences to high profile murder, fraud and sexual offences.
Notable recent successes have included the successful defence of members of the teaching profession, both present and retired, falsely accused of sexual impropriety with pupils. Stephen's experience in dealing with clients from all walks of life has proven invaluable in allowing clients facing the most horrific of allegations to feel comfortable and re-assured. His ability to take on the burden of the clients problems and analyse and progress a case to best effect are the hallmarks of an extremely accomplished practitioner.
Most recently Stephen has further developed his expertise in high value white collar crime where the amounts involved have run into tens of millions of pounds.
Stephen takes great pride in the manner in which the firm has developed over the years. He has been largely responsible for the active development of many of the firms new recruits who have subsequently developed very successful careers and ultimately have, themselves, become partners.
Away from work, his leisure interests, apart from spending time with his young family, are running, cycling, rowing and wine.
