Many small businesses are dismissing staff without following correct procedures.
A recent survey by Peninsula Business Services, who questioned 2167 employers, found that 73% of businesses admitted to dismissing an employee immediately without following procedures, while 82% of employers admit they are not up to date with employment legislation.
With employees more knowledgeable about employment rights than ever before, dismissing workers without following the correct procedures is increasingly likely to land business owners in front of an employment tribunal. Businesses therefore need to make sure they are up to date with changes in the law and have watertight policies and procedures in place to safeguard their business.
