I didn’t have a training contract but wanted to start working in a law firm, regardless of the position. My role was largely photocopying, dealing with post and so on, but to me it was my first contact with the legal profession and was hugely exciting.

I was lucky enough to secure a training contract at the firm which started in September 2004 which allowed me to experience the legal world beyond the photocopier, and almost immediately I was attending Court, drafting emergency witness statements for care proceedings and meeting clients. It was a direct contrast to my law school friends who were working behind the scenes on court bundles in the City – under supervision, I was given so much trust and was able to really start building my legal experience.

I qualified In September 2006 into the Residential Property team. My remit at the time was to develop the property work from the small branch office in Harrow. This was entirely new to me, but I worked hard to develop my own contacts and work sources and to build my case load. It was a tremendously supportive environment – I was able (actively encouraged in fact) to discuss my ideas to drive in new business, or to discuss potential strategies to make the work more profitable or efficient.

I became a Partner of Blaser Mills Law in 2010, and Head of the Residential Property team in 2012. Since then, I have consistently been involved with key decisions for the firm, including recruitment of key personnel including Partners, setting budgets, strategy for business growth and business development, and have recently become a part-owner of the business and member of the Management Board.
