Alicia Thompson’s Story

“After 11 years of being at home with my children, I needed to be back in the work place…

In June 2020 I was offered a position within the Practice Management Unit as a Risk & Compliance Executive

I was offered a secretarial position within the Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence department and what a baptism of fire that was! Although I had worked within various office roles prior to being a stay at home mum, a lot had changed upon my return. However, the support and training that I have received whilst being at Blaser Mills Law has been second to none.

In June 2020 I was offered a position within the Practice Management Unit as a Risk & Compliance Executive – a role that allows me to use my Criminology degree (finally) whilst encompassing all areas of law within Blaser Mills and, after grabbing the opportunity with both hands, I am not looking back.

No two days are ever the same. I deal with everything from Anti-Money Laundering, data protection, panel memberships, the firm’s audits and undertakings, as well as ensuring relevant training and support is offered to all members of staff throughout all levels of the firm and now dealing with the responsible business side of Blaser Mills Law my role is wide and varied and I love every minute of it.

Hard work and effort pays off at Blaser Mills and the sky is the limit when it comes to your career. They have always accepted me for me, I have never had to hide or dilute my opinions or personality and every voice is heard. Such a diverse firm with such a fluid social mobility means that you have the ability to progress and grow as much or as little as you wish.

‘You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.’ – Dr Seuss
